Who We Are and What This Privacy Policy Covers

RPM Auto Center is an independent auto repair shop owned and operated by MM Auto Group, Inc., a California corporation (“RPM Auto Center,” “we,” “us” or “our”). This privacy policy covers personal information we collect online, through our website, online booking tools, text messages and emails, and offline, when you call us or visit our shop. It does not cover websites, apps or services operated by other companies, even if we link to them.

By using our website or services, you acknowledge the practices described in this privacy policy. Our Terms & Conditions also apply.

Information We Collect

Under this privacy policy, we collect personal information in three ways: directly from you, automatically when you use our website, and from third parties that help us serve you.

Information you give us

  • Contact details such as your name, mobile and home phone numbers, email address and mailing address.
  • Vehicle information such as year, make, model, VIN, license plate, mileage, service history and the concerns you describe to us.
  • Appointment and service records including estimates, repair authorizations, inspection results, photos of your vehicle, invoices and warranty records.
  • Loyalty rewards information such as your membership status, points or rewards earned and redeemed, and your communication preferences.
  • Payment information needed to complete a transaction. Card payments are processed by our payment processor, and we do not store full card numbers on our website.
  • Communications such as calls, text messages, emails, online booking requests, survey responses, reviews and feedback.
  • Job applications you submit through our careers page, which are handled by our applicant tracking provider.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website we, and the service providers who help us run it, automatically collect information such as your IP address, approximate location based on that IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the website that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.

We collect this through cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies, described in the Cookies, Analytics and Advertising section below.

When you call a phone number shown on our website, our call tracking provider records details such as your phone number, the time and length of the call and the web page or ad that led to the call. If a call is recorded, you will be told at the start of the call.

Information from others

We may receive information about you from parts suppliers, warranty and extended service contract administrators, fleet managers, insurance companies, or another person you authorize to arrange service for your vehicle, as well as from online review and advertising platforms.

How We Use Your Information

As described in this privacy policy, we use the personal information we collect to:

  • schedule appointments and send confirmations and reminders;
  • inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain your vehicle, and keep accurate service records;
  • prepare estimates, request your authorization for repairs, and send inspection reports, invoices and payment links;
  • process payments and honor our 36-month/36,000-mile repair warranty;
  • run our loyalty rewards program, including tracking and redeeming rewards;
  • respond to your questions, requests and feedback, and ask about your experience;
  • send service reminders and, where you have agreed, information about specials, promotions and rewards;
  • measure and improve our website, advertising and customer service;
  • protect our business, customers and website against fraud, security threats and misuse; and
  • comply with our legal obligations, including California automotive repair recordkeeping requirements.

We will not use your personal information for purposes that are materially different from those described in this privacy policy without telling you first.

Text messaging

Text Messages and Your Mobile Information

This part of our privacy policy covers text messages. If you give us your mobile phone number and agree to receive text messages, RPM Auto Center may send you messages about your appointments, your vehicle and our loyalty rewards program. These include appointment confirmations and reminders, vehicle status updates, estimates and repair approval requests, digital inspection results, invoices and payment links, pickup notices, service and maintenance reminders, loyalty rewards updates, and surveys or requests for feedback.

If you separately agree to receive marketing messages, we may also send you specials, promotions and rewards offers. Consent to receive marketing text messages is never a condition of purchasing any goods or services.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by telling us in any other reasonable way, such as calling us or letting our service advisors know. Reply HELP for help, or call us at 626-587-3202. The full terms of our text messaging program are in our Terms & Conditions.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

All the categories of information sharing described in this privacy policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. We share your mobile phone number only with the service providers that deliver our text messages and operate our shop management systems, and only so they can provide those services to us.

Rewards

Loyalty Rewards Program and Notice of Financial Incentive

RPM Auto Center offers a loyalty rewards program that may give members benefits such as points, discounts, special offers or other rewards. This section of our privacy policy is our notice of financial incentive under California law.

  • What we collect: your name, phone number, email address, vehicle information, service and purchase history, and rewards activity.
  • How you join: joining is optional. You can enroll in the ways we offer, such as at our shop, by phone, or through a sign-up link or text message.
  • How you leave: you can withdraw from the program at any time by calling us at 626-587-3202 or telling us at the shop. What happens to any unredeemed rewards when you leave is described in the program rules.
  • Value of your information: we do not sell the information collected through the program. We estimate the value of your program information to be equal to the value of the rewards and discounts we provide to members, based on our good-faith estimate of the cost of those benefits compared with the business we expect to receive from members.

The rules for earning and redeeming rewards are in the Loyalty Rewards Program section of our Terms & Conditions.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. Except as described in this privacy policy, we do not share it. We share personal information only as described below:

  • Service providers that work on our behalf, such as our shop management and digital inspection software, payment processors, text message and email delivery providers, loyalty program providers, online booking and scheduling tools, call tracking, website hosting, security, analytics and advertising providers. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • Parts suppliers, warranty administrators and similar partners when needed to complete your repair, process a warranty claim or honor a manufacturer or extended warranty, or at your direction.
  • People you authorize, such as a family member, fleet manager or insurance company you ask us to work with.
  • Legal and safety reasons, when required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, employees, the public or RPM Auto Center.
  • Business transfers, if our business is sold, merged or reorganized, subject to this privacy policy.

Our use of advertising cookies and pixels, described below, may be considered sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out of that sharing as described in Your Privacy Choices and Rights. None of the sharing described in this section includes your mobile opt-in data or text message consent.

Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

This section of our privacy policy explains how our website uses cookies, pixels and similar technologies to keep the site working, understand how visitors use it, measure our advertising and show our ads to people who have visited our site.

These tools include Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, call tracking, our online booking widget and our Google reviews widget. These third parties may collect information about your online activities on our site and across other websites over time.

You can control these technologies in several ways:

How we respond to Do Not Track signals

Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common industry standard for these signals, our website does not currently change its data collection in response to them, and the third parties listed above may continue to collect information about your activities over time and across websites. To limit this tracking, use the choices listed above or contact us to opt out of sharing.

Email

If you receive marketing emails from us, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of the email. We may still send you transactional messages about your appointments and vehicle service.

Your Privacy Choices and Rights

Everyone can review and update the contact and vehicle information we keep about them, change their communication preferences, or ask us to stop marketing to them. Call us at 626-587-3202 or ask at the counter, and we will make the change promptly.

California privacy rights

This section of our privacy policy applies to California residents. To the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies to us, you have the following rights, subject to certain exceptions:

  • Right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, our purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to.
  • Right to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions such as records we must keep under California automotive repair law.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell personal information, and you may opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use sensitive personal information, such as payment card details, only to complete the transactions you request, so this right does not apply to how we use it.
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

How to make a request

To make a request, call us at 626-587-3202, visit us in person, or write to us at RPM Auto Center, 110 E Longden Ave #B, Irwindale, CA 91706.

We will verify your identity by matching the information you give us, such as your name, phone number and vehicle, with the information in our records. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; we may ask for proof of the agent’s authority and ask you to verify your identity directly.

We will confirm receipt of your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, up to another 45 days, we will tell you why.

  • Identifiers: name, phone number, email address, mailing address, IP address and online identifiers.

We collect these categories from the sources and for the purposes described above, and disclose them to the categories of recipients described in How We Share Your Information. Under California’s Shine the Light law, you may also ask whether we share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing; we do not.

Data Retention and Security

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this privacy policy, including keeping repair records and invoices for the periods required by California law, honoring warranties, running our loyalty rewards program, and resolving disputes. We then delete or de-identify it.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your personal information, and we require our service providers to protect it too. No website, transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are intended for adults, and this privacy policy is written for adult customers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Third-Party Websites

Our website may link to websites and tools operated by others, such as review sites, maps, payment pages and our online booking provider. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to read them.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date above. If we make material changes, we will also give notice in another way, such as a notice on our website or a message to customers who have opted in. We review this policy at least once a year.
